| The church of Christ
Many institutions are established for the select few. Others are nationwide, but the
church of our Lord makes a universal appeal. In the great commission, Jesus told the
disciples to go into all the world and preach the gospel (Matthew 28:18-20 and Mark
16:15-16). Every creature was a subject to whom this message was to be delivered.
Jesus also said "come unto me, all ye that labor and are heavy laden and I will give you
rest." Even if one has been steeped in sin, hope is still held out. Even when we have
forsaken the Lord or have fallen away, He stands at the portals of Heaven and
The church was established for the wise and the simple, the high and low, the old and
young. It is now as it was then for every human without regards to color of skin or the
location of one's home on earth.
The destiny of the church is Heaven. The head of the church is Christ (Ephesians
1:21-23). The builder of the church is Christ (Matthew 16:18). To be in Christ is to be
in His church. All must go to Heaven through the church which is Christ's body.
